OUR COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Medical Outreach Clinics
The Club holds several medical outreach clinics annually and is primarily aimed at providing our communities with free services that may otherwise be too costly to achieve. Coordinator of the event and Rotary Service Projects Director and District Health Visitor, Princes Town and Ste Madeleine Miranda Ramjattan, explained “Your health is your wealth. Unfortunately, there are many people who may live too far from public health facilities or may not be able to seek professional services for one reason or another. She further stated that in celebration of World Polio Day on October 24th the Rotary Club of Princes Town ensured that Polio awareness was conducted by the qualified nurses to ensure that those children without vaccination can come into the health centres and receive protection from this serious disease.
With the help of our partners the South West Regional Health Authority, Williamsville Health Centre, SeeVu Optical, Park View Drugs, Health and Fitness Gym, AeroPharmTT Pharmacy and Life Time smiles and our 21 wonderful volunteers we were able to bring these services to people from Princes Town and environs.
Basic Education and Literacy
In observance of September 2023 Basic Education and Literacy Month The Rotary Club of Princes Town partnered with the principal and teachers of the Princes Town Presbyterian School No.2 to host their Poetry, Recitation and Choral speaking competition at the school's compound. Students from first year to standard three took part in the recitation competition and the students in standards 4 and 5 took part in the class choral speaking competition. Our club sponsored trophies for the winners and participative medals for all students.

Our Director Service Projects Miranda Ramjattan was assisted by Secretary Wendy Joseph and Past President Capildeo Beharry. Our members assisted the teachers in judging the students performances and were in audience during their class recitals and displays. In her address to the students Director Miranda urged students to continue on their educational path and to foster reading, poetry and literature as their foundation to higher learning later on. She stated that the month of September 2023 was the rotary monthly theme of Basic Education and Literacy, however in order to work with the students our club decided to host this project in the month of October.

Principal Sophia Beepath-Nathai in her address thanked members of the Rotary Club of Princes Town for their contribution to the event at the school and expressed her gratitude for their continued support.

Club President Andrea Bhagwandeen has expressed her thanks to all club members, teachers and students who took part in this event.
Hamper Distribution
The Rotary Club of Princes Town in keeping with our mandate to assist our communities is continuously on a quarterly basis distributing hampers to those in need from our various communities. During the month of September and October our club has met at the Princes Town Mall to prepare and package hampers which are then distributed throughout the Princes Town district.
