Centennial Celebration of Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation is a non-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs and Rotary Clubs usually seek to make financial contributions out of their fundraising efforts to the Rotary Foundation in recognition of their duty to the Foundation to support its global efforts.
The Rotary Club of Princes Town (“the Club”) is one such Club and has financially supported the Rotary Foundation almost annually from the Club’s inception.
This year in celebration of the centennial of the Rotary Foundation the Club hosted a Rotary awareness afternoon at the Atrium of the Gulf City Mall in La Romaine on February 8th 2017 and took the opportunity via its multimedia projector screen to proudly display the work of the Rotary Foundation in videos and slideshows and distributed Rotary magazines and booklets on site to members of the public, with Rotarians sharing with the members of the public the good works of the Foundation as they stopped by and showed an interest in the display.
The Club’s celebration of this momentous event in the life of Rotary also included a medical and a membership drive. Rotarians and volunteers were on site and facilitated the medical screening of 125 citizens performing blood pressure, blood glucose and cholesterol testing. The Club also partnered with the South Regional Health Authority and vaccinated 90 persons for seasonal Influenza.
Rotary Foundation Director Amraz Alibocas ensured that Rotarians showed up in their numbers to discuss the good works of the Foundation with patrons and to coordinate the activities of the volunteers.
