Diabetes has been identified as the next world health epidemic.  Our Club has implemented a Diabetes Education and Awareness Program in nine (9) primary schools within Princes Town.

Our aim is to educate the children about healthy lifestyles and the consequences of bad eating habits to their health as they get older.

Our target group of Standard 3 students showed immense interest and were very excited to learn about Diabetes and the preventative measures each child can take to protect themselves.

The Club conducted lectures and distributed booklets to 519 Standard 3 students  who all participated in a written quiz on the topic.

On completion of the quiz at all schools, a prize distribution function will be held to honour the top 5 students in each of the nine schools.

The program has been a resounding success and our Club would like to extend the program to schools in other parts of Trinidad.

The children become educated on healthy living and that each one of them is responsible for their own health.  Special thanks go out to PP Zobida, PP Selwyn, Rotarian Terry and Partner in Service Selene.
