DIVALI 2013
DIVALI 2013
“Lead us from darkness into light…”
In keeping with the Club’s practice of recognizing national holidays and appreciating the diversity of our country’s religious tapestry, Divali was celebrated at a special meeting on Wednesday 23rd October at the home of Past President Dr. Ronald Gobin.
Rotarians, family and friends lighted Deyas and listened attentively to the discourse given by Pundit Maharaj, the officiating Pundit of the Triveni Hindu Mandir, Guaracara. Pundit Maharaj spoke on the significance of Divali and drew attention to the similarity of Divali’s enlightenment to Rotary’s recognition of the importance of Truth in our actions.
But it was not all philosophy as Rotarian Patsy Chankersingh organized a Pick-a-Pan game testing Rotarians and guests on their knowledge of East Indian words. There was even a mini fashion show as all showed off their traditional ethnic wear. The evening ended with a delicious vegetarian meal.
The Club thanks Secretary Ronald and his family for their kind hospitality.

Scenes of DIVALI CELEBRATION AT GLUD ROAD
Divali celebration brought the village of Glud Road and Mantacool together on Saturday October 26th. The Rotary Club of Princes Town was part of that celebration as it continues to support rural villages in working harmoniously to develop and improve living conditions and village life.
The Club treated the children at the celebration and President Bashir took the opportunity to present food hampers to deserving families in the village.
