On Saturday September 16, 2017, the Rotary Club of Princes Town sponsored an Eid-ul-Adha programme at the Union Village Mosque Hall, Rio Claro. The programme was open to all members of the community to enlighten them on the meaning of Qurbani or sacrifice that is performed on Eid-ul-Adha.
Imam Shameed welcomed the packed audience and thanked the Princes Town Rotary Club for sponsoring the program. He then introduced President Bashir Mohammed who spoke of Rotary’s commitment to making a difference in their community. The feature speaker, Maulana Atif Majeed, recounted the story of Abraham and Ismail and their selfless sacrifice in serving God. Hafiz Ismail Khan then eloquently recited verses of the Holy Qur’an. The evening came to an end with the distribution of twenty hampers to deserving families and then all the invitees partook of the very tasty dinner provided by the mosque.
