END POLIO WORLDWIDE
On Monday 24th October WORLD POLIO DAY,
The Rotary Club of Princes Town is glad to assist Mr. Sookermany with a wheelchair. He is 68 years of age and contracted Polio at a young age. It affected his legs and fingers in one of his hands.
As he grew older his condition grew worse and he soon required the use of a walker instead of a walking stick. Unfortunately, he now requires the use of a wheelchair to get around.
Although Polio has been eradicated in many countries the decline in vaccination rates during the COVID-19 pandemic means that it has resurfaced.
Rotary launched PolioPlus in 1985, the first and largest internationally coordinated private-sector support of a public health initiative. It was a founding member of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988. Through decades of commitment and work by Rotary and our partners, more than 2.5 billion children have received the oral polio vaccine.
Through your support we can increase awareness of this debilitating disease and help to END POLIO NOW.
