Sunday 25th March, 2012 was a special day as the Rotary Clubs of Princes Town, Chaguanas, Felicity/Charlieville and San Fernando South came together in a joint Family Day Fellowship at Palmiste.

The Assistant District Governor for the four Clubs, Past President Rahendra Seemungal, took the opportunity to join District Governor Lara Quentrall-Thomas and District Governor Elect (2012-2013) Past President Dr. Stephen Ramroop, in highlighting the importance of Clubs and their families coming together to have fun and develop their strength and team spirit in a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

DG Lara pointed out that as so often the work of Rotary Clubs is in the communities they serve; it is easy to forget that Rotarians belong to a huge, close knit family with shared interests, purpose and focus.

Much effort of the day went into protecting the secret of the perfect “pong pepper” and curry duck as eventually The Rotary Club of Felicity/Charlieville won the coveted title of Curry Duck Champions 2012. The Rotary Club of Princes Town won the Doubles Eating Contest as well as ending up the overall winners of the evening and taking away the AG Rahendra Seemungal Challenge Shield.

Rotarians and their families revisited some of the traditional games like Hula Hoop Contest, Musical Chairs, 3-Legged Race and more fun games after The Rotary Club of San-Fernando South took the spotlight at lunch when they prepared a mouthwatering curry goat and delicious stew chicken.

Rotarians vowed to continue the Family Day with many threats from the other Clubs to take away the Challenge Shield next year from the Rotary Club of Princes Town.
