The Rotary Club of Princes Town accepted a request from the Police Support Group in St. Mary’s Moruga to host a medical clinic at the St. Mary’s Government Primary School on Sunday July 30th, 2017 to assist those affected by the closure of the Health Facility in the area. Members of the Police Support Group together with Councillor for the Hindustan/St. Mary’s area Michelle Benjamin assisted in mobilizing residents in need of medical care and counseling.

Services provided at the Clinic included vision screening, dental screening, family counseling, legal aid, clothing distribution and blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol testing.  Our team of volunteer doctors together with our in house pharmacists attended to over ninety seven patients who were provided with medical aid and personal hygiene hampers. The Club noted however a prevalence of diabetes and hypertension cases which it noted required additional counseling services to facilitate lifestyle changes.
We wish to acknowledge the selfless service of our volunteer doctors who ensured the Clinic was a success:

  • Dr. Carlyn Rajnarinesingh
  • Dr. Kiran Premanand
  • Dr. Prem Premanand
  • Dr. Stefan Nanan
  • Dr. Christi Ramsingh
  • Dr. Mariyah Shah
  • Dr. Josann Persad

We also wish to thank Kahaema Dyer for providing family counselling services, Shelly-Ann Serrette-Moreno from the Blind Welfare Association for conducting vision screening for the patients and the nurses from the Indian Walk Health Center who administered the H1N1 flu vaccines to the patients.
