“We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the course of history.”
– Sonia Johnson

It is on this premise that we base our Scholarship Awards.
Our annual Scholarship Awards Programme allows us the opportunity to support a group of young people each year in pursuit of tertiary education who are deemed deserving of financial aid. We believe that we cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future, as stated by F. Roosevelt.

It has been the first time in two years, since the onset of the Pandemic that the Club has been able to host this Ceremony in its true form and our members were thrilled for the occasion.

On Thursday 26th May 2022, the Rotary Club of Princes Town held its annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony at JR&D Convention Centre in Princes Town. A total of five Scholarships were awarded to deserving students enrolled in various areas of study in tertiary institutions both locally and internationally.

This venture is funded solely by the Club’s annual Chokhafest fundraiser. This particular undertaking was additionally made possible due to a generous donation to our Chokhafest expenses by the Republic Bank Limited, Princes Town Branch.

A packed but exciting programme featuring Mr. Rishi Ramlogan, President of the RCPT, Mr. Timothy Bailey, President of the Steel Workers Union of Trinidad and Tobago and entrepreneur and Mrs. Nalini Rattan representative of RBL was enjoyed by a crowd of students, parents, Rotarians and partners-in-service.

Mr. Bailey, in all his youth and vibrancy brought the feature address, encouraging students to follow their dreams, making the point that no matter the path you choose, you must always do your best and you will succeed.

Awards were presented to:
Akasia Lynn Augustine – Bachelor of Law, UWI Cavehill
Dymond Magloire – Associate Degree in Social Work, CoSTAATT
Kenya Toisann Augustine – BSc Health Sciences, Howard University
Makeisha Simon – MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) UWI, St Augustine
Sabrina Soogrimsingh – Associate Degree General Nursing, CoSTAATT

We know that our future will be well taken care of because by assisting these cherished individuals, we aim to chart a course of history we will be proud of!
