In recognition of World Diabetes Day observed annually on November 14th, our past president Zobida Ragbirsingh presented “Diabetes: Signs, Symptoms and Prevention Management” at our Club’s weekly meeting held on Wednesday November 10th, 2021 at Canton Palace Restaurant, San Fernando.

PP Zobida is currently the Chairman of the Princes Town Branch of the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT).  She was President of DATT on two occasions as well as the Public Relations Officer.  She also held the position of Vice President Health Care Professional with the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) during the period 2015 to 2019.

PP Zobida stressed on the importance of access to diabetes care and was very descriptive in explaining diabetes, its signs and symptoms and especially its effect on children.  PP Dr. Ronald Gobin also enlightened Rotarians on new medication that is very effective in controlling diabetes.  At the end of her presentation, PP Zobida distributed Diabetes pins to all present at the meeting.

In addition, the Club assisted Ms S. Pariag with eye care costs of $1,500 due to diabetes complications and also delivered a wheel chair to Mr. Lakhan who recently had multiple toes amputated due to diabetes.
